The IRS has taken another technological step forward by relasing Apss for Smart Phones. On January 25, 2011 the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that it has released “IRS2Go”, a free smartphone application for iPhones and Androids. The IRS hopes to become more accessible and user friendly to taxpayers, using this type of modern technology. The IRS2Go App has been designed to assist taxpayers in the following ways:
Your Tax Updates
Taxpayers can now sign up to receive email tax tips from the IRS. Emails are sent daily during tax season, and then periodically thereafter.
Income Tax Refund Status Updates
After entering secured, encrypted personal information, the taxpayers can check the status of their income tax refunds. E-filers will be able to access information approximately 72 hours after filing, while paper returns will take longer to update.
Access the IRS on Twitter
Taxpayers can now follow the IRS via its Twitter feed, @IRSnews to get the latest in federal tax news.
Smart Phone users can download the free “IRS2Go” application by visiting the Apple App Store or Android Marketplace.
